This is a vintage New England Pottery Ming Dynasty fish bowl planter with a hand-painted iris, butterfly, and hummingbird design.
It has a gold-trimmed rim with a decorative border. 
It is designed to be a decorative cachepot or planter and typically does not have a drain hole.
